Carpet Recycling UK was pleased to be invited to participate in the GUT/ECRA annual conference and meeting in Antwerp in September. For several years now senior members of ECRA have attended and presented at CRUK’s annual conferences. It was great to reciprocate their support this year by representing CRUK at an ECRA event.

The conference was hosted by Hans Peter from GUT/ECRA and the presentations on the day covered topics such as:

  • What an EPR could potentially look like for the sector;
  • Product passport and its importance to any EPR-type scheme;
  • Reporting on all emissions which includes imports and exports by 1st June 2024;
  • Ban on Greenwashing to come into force in 2025;
  • RFID technology capabilities;
  • Updates from PolySep on polymer separations trials;
  • Various other Green deals and policies which are likely to be in place by 2050.

On the second day, the members only meeting provided an insight into how GUT and ECRA are managed and organised at a strategic board level and what they are planning for 2024.

Carpet Recycling UK has always had a close working relationship with GUT/ECRA sharing their vision and goals. CRUK intends to continue working closely with Hans-Peter and his team to better understand what is happening in the EU and how this will have an impact on what happens here in the UK.

UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance is the only membership association dedicated to helping the UK textile and resilient flooring sector become more sustainable.
